Reminds me of a scene in an old comic I read a long time ago, I forgot the title, something about "old-school" story characters entering the real world to evade "Nemesis".
 
This scene would have been from one of Nemesis' staff explaining how their magic methods would not be as effective against the modern tech used by the allies of the good story characters. Squishy wizard go boom!  
The end part of the scenario shows the good guys using a mashup of fantasy and modern tech to win.
