Ok, now I get it. I'm dumb.
 
I just assumed the thing at the top that was her teeth was a part of us since it had the same color as our skin. Every time I thought about an explanation I thought that her mouth was some kind of weird internal view that somehow showed something of ourselves and it didn't make sense. The image at the description doesn't actually show her in exactly that position and I didn't think her mouth was open like that either. Then I flipped the image and I saw that it was her teeth and it made sense.
