If it's true it would pull a Power Rangers at the box office. And it's Lionsgate's fault that:
A) They don't understand animation is for all audiences and not just children. (Which explains why people dislike films like Norm of the North and Alpha & Omega, which is produced by Lionsgate)
B) They no longer want to release 3D films (thanks to the flops of Allegiant and Gods of Egypt and the success of films like John Wick) and wants every single film, especially tentpoles like PR2017 and MLP to be released only in 2D. Which i think it was the cause of Power Rangers' box office disappointment. (Sure they prefer the MLP movie to be left at that because it's 2D animated, but they don't realize that Legend 3D is involved in the film (unless they did for special effects rather than Stereoscopic conversion) according to IMDb, even if they are not credited in the film except the 3D Compositors)
If the lack of Stereoscopic 3D for Power Rangers 2017 wasn't the cause of the flop, i don't know what caused it to flop.
As for Pony, if anything, would $51 million bucks pay the company (or hopefully Paramount) to develop a (either direct or stand-alone) sequel right away like Marvel always does?
