To clarify, statistically speaking, most people are straight, from which we can logically assume that if someone finds a person of the opposite sex attractive, then there are more chances that they are also straight (hence the "straight by default approach").
 
However, "modern tumblr society" is being obsessed by diversity and advancing the representation of minorities, so they consider that finding a person of the opposite sex attractive doesn't exclude the possibility that they may find people of the same sex attractive, which would make them bi by default, even if it is actually more likely that they are straight.
