The success of the minis is that they're more show accurate, cute, and not horrid brushable dolls. They're not a stark rip-off of Barbie or Monster High with hideous facial features and barely-recognizable colors or clothes that makes it difficult to tell who is who. They're also more collectible; good for displays and showing off in a collection. You didn't have that with some of the previous.
