It's actually a rather well-known fact that the Overwatch team very much enjoys TF2
 
In fact, here's a direct quote from Jeff Kaplan himself:

I couldn't find anything on how the TF2 dev team had to feelsay about overwatch since they don't communicate with the public very much, but I'd imagine they'd be flattered that the Overwatch team enjoyed their game so much that they took some inspiration from it
