Well, some smart people tend to lack on common sense, like Twilight and the tree branch that fell in the library, where she was looking for a book rather than....well, put the branch out. Or Rarity concerned because she forgot the plates for a picnic, but she remembered to bring a fainting couch, or when Celestia thought Discord was a great candidate to defeat Tirek....................... my point is Pinkie tends to put the lack of common sense up to eleven. Funily enough, my favorite Pinkie moments come from episodes where she is the main protagonist, mostly because she can be more insightful and versatile there, and she also have more common sense in those episodes, all while still being the energetic weird pony we know.
However, given what I found out, it seems common sense is not Equestria's strongest point. Make you wonder how the country can run without problems.
