This peculiarity stems from the original Pony Creator, which could only produce left-facing ponies and which I wanted to dissociate myself from. For a while I drew more of my pony vectors facing right than left, and this extended to my cutie mark collection; they are correct for right-facing ponies unless stated otherwise.
