Funny.
Because we don't even know much about the make up of the world in EqG. Yet we have more details on the astronomy in this one scene than we do for the Pony half of the series. But it's the other way around for Pony land, where we pretty much have mapped out the entire planet they are on by this point.
But we don't have much beyond the moon and sun.
Sucks Equestria doesn't have a space program when I'm sure they can easily utilize their magic to pull off an expedition. They could have made a doomsday extra terrestrial villain that would require the Mane 6 to blast off into space to pursue said villain before the threat reaches their planet.
