I like to believe that the Feast of Fire story is not only fictional, but by the end of Hearth's Warming break Smolder's learned so much from her friends that she gives the story about the dragon lord a happy ending for them.


 
Judging by the thighs and soft features, this dragon lord being trans is a possibility we shouldn't rule out and could be based on a historic lord.
 
Though more likely this dragon lord was intended to be female, but then the writers wrote "he" into the script. The lord's mannerisms are rather feminine.
 
Also, this whole story sounds like it could be made up by Garble because it reeks of a power fantasy. It does beg the question why he didn't just try to steal the scepter from Spike, since that's apparently all it takes to become the new lord.
