I find it sad you reject meaning. Meaning is literally the thing that makes life worthwhile.
It's in sitting by the side of someone you've been friends with for years, or someone you love.
It's in doing something you've wanted to do for years.
It's in being somewhere you've never been before but have worked towards for years.
It's in showing love and feeling that feeling of altruistic affection, because you just decided to do that.
It's in being able to truthfully say, "you know... I'm doing okay right now" or working towards something big.
Life is like a trip to a theme park. It's overpriced and the vast majority of it is sitting around in the hot sun waiting in lines and it's pretty smelly and dirty. But every now and then there's a short, amazing thrill that makes the whole thing worthwhile. I call that meaning.
The problem with rejecting meaning is not that life becomes neutral and pointless. No, the suffering of life is always there (no matter how much better it may be in this century than the last), but rejecting meaning in life just removes what makes it worth the suffering.
Sure, the universe will go on. But why worry about that? You can think of a context where anything doesn't matter. 2^2 = 4 doesn't care about anything. But that doesn't make it any less wonderful when you can look back and say, "I did good today", or make the warmth of a hug any less.
