There was an attempt
This kinda loses some of its impact when you remember it was just Twilight that was antisocial back then, and everyone else wanted, and STILL wanted Moondancer to come out of her shell and be more open.


 
She basically became a shut-in just because another well-known shut-in didn't go to her birthday. In a sense, its like when Starlight became a villain just because a friend from her childhood moved away, except Moondancer's reaction was much less extreme despite still being a bit of an overreaction.
