You can also get SNES games on newer Nintendo systems too actually. (But not the Switch... Yet.)


 
As for unofficial online emulators & such, it's kinda a moral slippery slope, as that's kinda like piracy. and copyright infringement, but it has kinda helped preserve some rare retro games that are unlikely to get rereleased on modern consoles. (Especially, licensed games.) So it's kinda a grey area. So I'm not ganna tell you if you should or shouldn't.
