Riight? So weak that he survived multiple death and killed the Tree of Harmony. Face it the only reason he is dead now purely for the plot.
They needed the most durable villain out of the way to give the next villains a better threat level. Especailly Grogar.
Plus your thinking is completely false since in S3 very first episode it was stated by Shining Armor that Sombra had been attacking the shield Cadence put up for several weeks.
Sombra is stubborn, and prideful, but certainly not weak.
