Personal analysis, leg movements are fine, but the biggest thing is some tail bouncing and head bobbing up and down to counteract the leg movements. Think about how when you take a step and your whole body moves up and down with each step. Similar things happen with a pony as well (heck, find general horse walk cycles and you should get similar results).
