Yeah, I've possibly been a hypocrite on prior occasions, with different shows and characters, but here, in this case, people seem to be in denial that a character is being portrayed as outright irredeemable, and probably immutably so in canon.
Do I need a chill pill? Possibly.
It's kind of like pretending you can redeem say, Cell from DBZ, going "but he just wanted to fight strong guys," or something like that, when that's... kinda glossing over the special kind of depraved he was.
