Surgical masks are only meant to be used for about an hour, in the doctors cases its to stop liquids from entering their mouth or the patients mouth, this is why it is used in surgeries and why you cant have a sick doctor work on you. n95 masks are specialised in the way it has very small spaces between the fibres, thus it is the best mask we got to prevent something so small from entering us like COVID-19 or dust particles, COVID-19 can go straight through a surgical mask just like dust particles can (dust particles arenbigger then the virus).
