I believe it's two things: one part of him who is scared and dsad and doesn't understand why he's trying to lash out. Everything should be okay, there's no more real life threatening problems in his life, but He doesn't know why he feels awful. So he projects his anger onto White. White IS Steven in this conversation, and he's afraid of what he could do. I think it's trying to imply self harm, but I'm not totally sure on that.
