HAHAHA I have these kinds of conversations off and on.
"Actually both the anime and Manga are really good, but they both tell totally different stories. The original OVA did start out similar to the manga, based on the characters transformation outfits, but they wanted to tone stuff down with the actual anime series, and as a result followed a totally different story line."

"the anime main antagonist gets killed off in i think volume three of the manga."
Person : Wait what? HIM? Seriously?
"Yep he gets flattened. After having seen the Anime first, the death was actually super funny. Great big deadly villain.. SPLAT."
The Anime im talking about and referencing is called Sorcerer Hunters or Bakuretsu Hunters. It is.. well.. a show of its time frame... hehehe
