The writers seem to twist up what the fans want at times.
Remember how Between Dawn And Dusk how they responded to fans thinking Luna and Celestia are "useless"?
The writers clearly misunderstood the complaints since the actual problem that makes the Royal Sisters look "useless" is how they kept getting sidelined or getting taken out if some villain attacks. Not that the sisters are literally useless.
