Agreed, and unlike TTG, and such, it's not too mean-spirited, nor sitcom-ish, and somehow still keeps the cute/innocence factor of MLP in tact, and you can see the characters still hugging, and still care about each other, and stuff.
And frankly, FIM in hindsight had alot of cartoony, goofy, or silly moments too and so did G1
