exactly, Sweetie Belle's come a long way from the days when she burnt breakfast, clearly there's something going on there - so the fact that our man finds it hard to believe that any unicorn not under Twilight's tutelage has any knowledge of defense spells or magic blasts seems kinda silly-
as I said, I'm sure theydcan use those spells, they just haven't had much of any reason to usedo them
