Yeah, meanwhile other "classic" cartoons like "Dexter's Laboratory," "2 Stupid Dogs," and even some Hanna Babara cartoons from the '60s have similar "thick straight line/Bean head/mouth/huge head/tiny body" styles, and they're quite beloved regardless.
If those were made today, people would be bashing them, calling them "CalArts" too probably.
