Because Twilight didn’t believe that what worked in Equestria, singing songs and making friends with the creatures they came across, was good enough, since it almost resulted in them being betrayed by Capper,
and put them at risk of being given up by Celaeno, especially after Rainbow Dash’s careless Rainboom. She used Pinkie as a distraction so she could try to get the Pearl, clearly not considering that it actually would make Novo change her mind just from cheering up Skystar. As I said, she didn’t witness the positive effects that the others’ friendship had on the new creatures they met, so she didn’t know the good they’d done in the danger they faced.
