TJ and Gallus both have that leadership motif, an eye for a plan, an affinity for pranks, and of course...they have that natural "cool kid" aura.
Vince and Silverstream...Well, at first the two may not match up, but as it turns out, Silverstream's high energy and interest in a lot of things that she's never seen before, chances are she'd make an ideal athlete, not to mention that she has indulged in other interests much like Vince had (i.e. cooking, golf, improv'd playground games, etc...)
Gretchen and Ocellus? Natural brainiacs and bibliophiles, these go ideally together as they show a love of knowledge, learning, and deeper understanding of the world. A perspective not always shared by their respective peers, but valued for it nonetheless.
And Sandbar and Gus? Sandbar and Gus don't stand out as much, what with Sandbar being a level-headed "straight man"and Gus being the meek, quiet type, but when push comes to shove they can both step up to defend their friends and their school.
The remaining parallels of Yona/Mikey and Spinelli/Smolder? Complete agreement there.
