My lazy reasoning is that he probably got it from his parents. Look how old Twilight Velvet and Night Light are when Flurry wasboaround in the show itself. The reasoning is lazy since I figure the animators didn't want to portray the grandparents to look too "old" whatsoever. That and we don't know how old last two panels version of Flurry is, she probably could just be in her early twenties or much older for all we know.
