If picrel supposed to be a foreshadowing, then yes, he was probably married and this could be either his own ring, or it used to belong to Misty’s mom. Besides, that could be baby Misty’s pacifier.
Compared to his other shelves full with all sorts of random knick-knacks, this shelf actually always seemed kinda special to me somehow. I believe those are some of his more valuable belongings, some of those (like the pacifier or the ring) could be even some kind of mementos, or keepsakes.
