The short version is that “lying” is what you do to yourself, “laying” is what you do to something else; you lie down, you lay something else down.

Addressed? I see “laying down” (the apparently incorrect one) with 983 images and “lying down” with 769. Both are used to describe the exact same behavior; lying down. That’s not addressed. Don’t you think we should do something about it rather than ignore the problem completely?

Laying down is the wrong tag. Aliasing it wouldn’t solve the issue and would introduce new problems on top (not least in situations where someone wants to tag a character laying down an object or character). The only solution is to correct the tag manually whenever you spot it.

Aliasing would solve the issue, though. I’ve flipped through about a dozen pages of the “laying down” tag, and a couple pages of the “lying down” tag for good measure, and I haven’t seen a single image that was of a pony laying an object down and not a pony lying down. Not only do people not tag images of ponies laying down objects with “laying down”, I don’t think very many images depicting such a thing even exist. If you want to manually correct images tagged with the “laying down” tag, we’re going to be re-tagging 983 images or a number very close to that.
 
If you can find 10 images tagged “laying down” that are in fact of ponies laying down objects and not lying down, I’ll eat those words though. I’d be surprised if there are even 3.

This. Its needlessly pedantic to acknowledge they mean different things but it never applies to one of them and therefore we shouldn’t make one autocorrect to the other. Especially when you could just use something like “setting down” “putting down” or “placing down” instead if you absolutely must tag it properly on the miniscule chance its a thing that needs to be tagged.

Mentally Disturbed Brony Dad seems like it should also imply “that changes everything.

FN-2199 should be the primary tag, and it should be an alias of TR-8R, and altogether, these tags should imply all of the tags currently implied by TR-8R (spoilers for another series, Star Wars, The Force Awakens).

I think that “vulgar” is for vulgarity in the image, not in the tags.

Of course you cuold argue that it doesn’t need to have the tag when it doesn’t have the text. I just left it on cause.. why not.
