“Price has stated that Hasbro does give them freedom to write and draw the comic as they see fit, typically only asking for changes to achieve “a little bit more show accuracy”.[18] In one case, they had a story planned that Hasbro told them was being done within the show, and had to scrap it; in another case, they had initially planned to open the first issue with the Cutie Mark Crusaders camping, but found that the show already had a similar scene, within the Season 3 episode “Sleepless in Ponyville”, and altered these pages for something different.[18] Other elements of the show have been considered “off limits” for the comics until blessed by Hasbro; the villain Discord was considered one of these until the start of Season 4 of the show which changed aspects of his character, after which Hasbro allowed the comic to use the character. Actually, the comic writers do consult the show writers… at least they did. I don’t believe this has changed.

It is a boiok published by Hasbro, it was written by show writer Amy Keathing Rogers, and has as part of it’s title “The Official Chronicles of Princesses Celestia and Luna”. In addition Amy had specifically called on the aid of Lauren Faust herself in writing the book, which she gave, meaning it has the aid of show creator herself.
 
If that isn’t pretty official, and more official then the comics, then fans are being to strict/unreasonable in refusing to accept it as canon.

Approximately how much of the fandom has read this book? I am kind of curious… Also, is it more or less canon than the comics? Because, to my knowledge, the comics are canon where they don’t contradict the cartoon; is it like that? And why are we all over-analyzing the porn so much?

They make a far point, there is a mistake somewhere given what was said. Celestia has her cutiemark, which she didn’t get until she was more of an ‘adult’ thus treating her as a foal doesn’t work… at least not very strongly.

They age slower, but the book doesn’t say that they grew to adulthood slower. The impression I got was that they were cutie markless adults for a long time, not that they were foals/fillies for a long time.

Foalcon is like lolicon; age does not truly matter, it is mostly how the character looks.
 

 
For example, this Fire Emblem chracter is over 1000 years old and can shapeshift or something (I don’t know, I’ve never played Fire Emblem). Porn of her would most certainly be considered lolicon, however, despite this. The same would apply to Celestia, though I seriously doubt that most people have read or care about that book; it wouldn’t really be silly at all for them to not take it into account.
