I am so butthurt at this! In my headcanon, yes, Sweetie Drops is her real name. But because her cutiemark was frequently mistaken as candies, she gained the nickname ‘Bonbon’. Peculiar and mischievous fate is, since she was a filly, she was prone to misfortunes. But instead of breaking her down, this made Bonbon learn to be tougher and more hardworking, (Having ‘Apple’ in her blood might also be a boost to her determination.) and more serious and more mature, she even takes various jobs in order to save as much bits as possible. Yet, she is still the kind of girl who knows how to have fun. In certain situations, her sarcastic and cruel facade melts into one of the sweetest and most generous pony one might ever know. With this mix of personality, she earned her bestfriend Lyra’s admiration, not to mention this also helped her keep being sane despite the eccentric unicorn’s antics.
 
Oh well, I’m still using this back story in my fanarts (specially in that internal fictional pony verse I keep musing.)
 
But in addition, I have a new alternate headcanon: Bonbon is strange. I mean, that whole story about being a secret agent? Don’t you get even a drab of suspicion that all of that was just a lie? What if Bonbon was… unstable? And you know that crazy but badass weasel, ‘Buck’ in ‘Ice Age 3?’ Yeah, she now partly reminds me of him.
 
But to be honest, I very much prefer my original headcanon.
 

 
Oh, I didn’t make the last panel’s reaction because I was butthurt. It was just soooooo ooooofff!!!! Honestly, did anyone EVER saw that coming?!
