This is Galaxy Star, who I Based on G1 Galaxy. She is very intelligent and magically talented - one of the few unicorns who has learned elemental magic (headcanon: any unicorn can learn elemental magic, but it is one of the most difficult kinds of magic to master, so not many do). As the oldest of four siblings, she is often left in charge when her parents are busy (which happens often). As a result, she has developed good leadership capabilities. She is also intuitive, and enjoys stargazing.

In college, she met a stallion (who I haven’t named yet) who she starts to have a crush on. However, another classmate (a pegasus mare named Neon Flight) is attracted to him as well.

One evening, Galaxy was practicing her elemental magic in her spare time, like she did every day. A tricky fire spell had just blown up in her face, but as she was wiping the soot off her safety goggles, she heard strange noises from outside - something roaring, and ponies screaming. She galloped outside to find a huge serpentine dragon (probably from the sewers or something) on the loose. Remembering that reptiles are cold-blooded, making them vulnerable to cold, Galaxy blasted the creature with ice magic, and chased it back down the hole it came from. Immediately upon returning to her room, she cleaned the rest of the soot off her mane and face and, tired from the battle, went to bed. As she lay there, she thought to herself, “I should do this more often, using my elemental magic to protect other ponies…” and with that, she fell asleep.

The next day, she found that everypony seemed excited about something. When she listened closely, she noticed they were all talking about the same thing: a masked mare who fought a creature that attacked the night before. “What did I miss?” she thought. She remembered there being a serpent attacking, but she never saw anypony wearing a mask. Then she realized something - she had forgotten to wipe the soot off her face before she went outside that night, and everypony mistook it for a mask. They were talking about her.

Her crush was particularly excited about the mysterious mare, whom the other ponies have dubbed “The Masked Matterhorn.” He went on and on about how this pony protected others without concern for her own safety. Galaxy had mixed feelings about this - the stallion of her dreams had finally noticed her, but not like she had hoped. He had no idea it was her. And with everypony being as curious about her identity as he was, she decided it would probably be better that way.

Meanwhile, Neon Flight was listening to all of this, not at all amused by his fangirling. How dare this anonymous pony come along and steal her stallion?! She had no clue who this “Masked Matterhorn” was, but Neon was not going to let her get away with this. She would stop at nothing to put this “hero” in her place…
