Emerald is a bit fascinated by this, as he doesn’t have any particular religious beliefs himself. That’s a pretty common stance among ponies. The closest thing to a god they have is Celestia, and she is quick to point out she is no such thing. That of course doesn’t stop some people.
 
Emerald asks if Hiwot, the sun goddess, is related in anyway to Celestia.
 
Nishan glares at Emerald and Loupe gives another giggle.
 
“I asked the same thing.” Loupe responds, “And no, they are very different. Hiwot, in addition to the sun, is the god of fire, life, death, and kingdoms. She is far more authoritarian and capricious than Celestia is.”
 
Emerald asks about Marjani, the magic one.
 
“It’d probably be better to call her the goddess of Alchemy…” Loupe says scratching the back of her head, “To ponies magic and alchemy are different, but to most Zebra they are one in the same. You must have realized the words are the same, correct?”
 
Thinking to himself about it, the word “Uchawi” does have both of those meanings, though he never realized it because of the context of most sentences made it obvious that they meant alchemy.
 
“To put it a bit better, she is also the god of knowledge and inspiration, and many scientists and actors as well as Alchemists pay her homage.”
 
Emerald asks the zebra she met Joyride.
 
“Through an alchemist friend of mine who lives in Whitherwater. Said she wanted a guide to one of the wasp nests, and was offering a good amount of bits for it. Joyride and I corresponded back and forth and it was decided. Though I must admit to being surprised about her… Habits.” Nishan says, poking a log in the fire.
