AJ and Rarity had a divorce. It wasn’t messy or terrible, but as much as the two loved each other, the two of them had quite a temper when they disagreed. Everything broke to a head after a couple of months of non-stop fighting. They agreed they had to separate, at least for a little while. Consequently, the two found others that they loved.
 
For Applejack, it was Ms. Cheerilee, Ambrosia’s school teacher. For Rarity?
 
She had never noticed before, but Mr. Rich was a nice stallion. Gentlemanly, kind… he reminded her of her fantasies when she was younger, a prince coming to lift her off her hooves. True, he wasn’t a prince, but he certainly played the part. And a few years back, he had divorced his wife, Spoiled Rich, who was now known as Spoiled Rotten. It had been a nasty divorce, quite unlike Rarity’s, as Mr. Rich was horrified how his wife treated their daughter. She didn’t get much in terms of alimony. She left Ponyville soon after, ashamed.
 
The stallion seemed happier, although lonely. Rarity saw him much more often around town and in her boutique. She couldn’t help feeling pity for him, and a great deal of admiration.
 
Perhaps she would invite him to dinner?

Rarity here is 25 years old, and Filthy is around 40. Ambrosia is around 5 and Diamond Tiara is about 15 or so. Roughly speaking, of course. Diamond moved out awhile ago (ponies have different ages than humans and mature faster) and with Silver Spoon to get a degree in Jewelry Making and Inspection (her talent isn’t JUST getting what she wants. I like to think talents can have two meanings) and Silver became a chef and a food critic.
