With pictures out there of the real life Bambi and flower when Bambi thought flower wasn’t real until he/she lifted their tail and sprayed Bambi. Even Bambi and flutter-shy had to wear clothes pins when Bambi had to wonder if he was to get a tomato juice bath to get rid of the skunk smell.

I think maybe flower maybe may have sprayed him by accident and then fluttershy had to clean him up if flower did it but maybe it wasn’t her or he whatever gender she is maybe it was a random skunk from the everfree forest

My guess is that a dragon tried to eat him and almost choked with him and he ended up ejecting him from the nose.
