AJ: “Now Mel, y’all make sure to take care of yer sister and mind Mrs. Limestone while ya sleep over tonight. Ah figured you’d be old enough for a sleepover but ah’ll have you know that ah’ll be here quicker than a jackrabbit if anything happens, y’hear?”  
PM: “Yes, Ma. Ah can take care of myself and so can Pelly. We’ll be fine!”  
AJ: “Good. Now, as for you…” (turns to Turq) “…don’t ya try anything funny with mah daughter. If y’all hurt her or make her uncomfortable, ah’ll find out and it ain’t gonna be pretty!”  
TE: “Y-yes, ma’am!”  
AJ: “Okay. Now y’all be safe, be careful ‘round the dragon, and just know Ah’ll be here first thing in the morning!”  
AA: “B-bye, Ma. Love ya!”  
PM: “Don’t ya worry about us!”  
(Applejack leaves)  
PM: “Now Turq, wanna sleep in the guest bed and have some fun tonight?”  
TE: “Yeah! Wait, what?”  
PM: (giggles and drags Turq upstairs)  
LP: (from upstairs) “You two better not make noise in that bedroom; your brother does that enough already!”  
PM: “Yes, Mrs. Limestone, we’ll close the door!”  
(Everypony soon settles into bed, leaving Pelly alone in the living room)  
AA: “Well, Ah guess Ah better go to bed…wait, what is that sound?”  
(Pelly follows the sound to the window where she spots Fire Opal outside weeping quietly to herself. Concerned, she goes out to see what is the matter.)  
AA: “F-Fire Opal? Are you okay?”  
FO: “Who goes there? Oh, it’s just you…”  
AA: “A-Ah heard you crying and wanted to make sure you were okay…”  
FO: “I-I wasn’t crying! I think you heard the wind or something…”  
AA: “Fire Opal, Ah can tell something’s hurtin’ ya. It’s written all over yer face. You can tell me, it’s okay.” (pats her back)  
FO: (whimpers) “I’m sick of being the family pet…”  
AA: “P-Pet? Ah never thought of you as a pet!”  
FO: “Well everypony else does! They all have their fun in the house while I stay outside, barely acknowledged except for those times when they remember to feed me…I’m just a guard dog to them and everypony outside the family avoids me like the plague!”  
AA: “A-Ah’m so sorry…”  
FO: “Not even my family sees me as their equal! The only ones who pay any attention to me are Ma, Pa, Bro, and Sis, but even then Pa and Bro are scared of me and I can tell Ma didn’t want me in the first place…I’d do anything for them, I really would, but…” (tears up) “I wish I could be more than their guard dog…if only I were a pony like them, maybe then I could be more than just a pet…” (sobs)  
AA: (rubs her back) “Shh…Ah may not know what it’s like to be a dragon, but Ah have an idea of how it feels to be forgotten…mah sis and Mum are famous pop stars and mah Ma has saved the world countless times, while ah’m just a socially awkward apple farmer. Ah know how it feels to be overlooked, which is why ah can’t bear to see ya feeling this way…if ya want, Ah can sleep out here with y’all tonight and be a friend. I-it’s the least Ah can do!”  
FO: (sniffles) “Oh Pelly…you’re the only one who understands me!” (pulls her into a dragon hug)  
AA: “D-don’t mention it! Ah’ve always wanted to be your friend but ah was too shy before…now ah can assure you that you’re much more than just a pet.”  
(Pelly and Opal cuddle up close together and fall asleep, feeling closer than ever)
 
(The next morning)  
PM: “Pelly? PELLY WHAT ARE Y’ALL DOING WITH THAT DRAGON? Ma said to be careful!”  
TE: “Shush, Mel. She’s fine. Opal is a good dragon.”  
PM: “But-”  
TE: “Mel, Opal’s been in our family for almost as long as I can remember and all she’s done is protect us. Look over there, your sister’s perfectly fine. Besides…” gestures to Opal and Pelly “…this is the happiest I’ve seen either of them!”  
PM: “Ah guess you’re right, Turq…” (nuzzles Turq)  
TE: “Of course I am, my goddess!” (blushing)  
(They watch as Pelly and Opal cuddle up together, more content than ever)
