i fucking hope.
Welp, I’m sold. First thing tomrrow I’m going on youtube to look up some of this shit. Nighty night!
Rocka Rolla: First effort, kinda wonky, but still listenable if inconsistennt all around
Sad Wings of Destiny: The band implements a morbid, “real” view of issues including a bit of sin mythology
Sin After Sin: Same as Sad Wings but faster
Stained Class: More of a proto-groove thing going on, but still has a nice diverse set
Killing Machine: Essentially more radio-friendly version of Stained Class, but still metal
British Steel: Pretty much their start in speed metal
Point of Entry: Experimental, pop-rock. I may stay away if you like metal a lot, but Desert Plains and Hot Rockin’ are neat
Screaming for Vengeance: Their “high point” where they start mixing speed metal with more melodic tuning
Defenders of the Faith: Absurdly fun to listen to, highly operatic, and feels “darker”
Turbo: Glam Priest. Tread lightly.
Ram it Down: Odd mix of glam and speed metal, but there’s a few gems like the title track and Blood Red Skies.
Painkiller: Holy Shit.
Jugulator: Very thrash-like, but all the songs seem similar except for the epic Cathedral Spires
Demolition: Same as Jugulator without an epic
Angel of Retribution: Throwback of most old JP material. Still good
Nostradamus: Their venture into symphonic metal dealing with the life of the eponymous seer. Very synth based, and not very traditional in its heaviness, but I like it with each listen
Damn right!
Just like most Slayer (Mind you, not all Slayer). Anyway, sounds awesome! I gotta find a computer that ain’t shitty like my stupid 1st gen Ipod touch.
Judas usually works that stuff into their music well.
Even they’re more “simple” songs are great.
Eat Me Alive is nothing but 2 people giving each other oral sex (I think), but it sounds so aggressive and over the top, I can’t help but like it.
Twisting the strangle grip
Won’t give no mercy
Feeling those tendons rip
Torn up and mean
Blastmaster racks the ground
Bent on survival
Full throttle hammers down
A deadly scream
All Guns, All Guns Blazing
Forced into overdrive
Drawn out of anger
All talons poison dipped
Impaling spike
Heart pounding fever pitch
Blood pumping fury
Two fisted dynamo
Eager to strike
All Guns, All Guns Blazing
Cross cutting thundercharge
Blade of destruction
Flame throwing hurricane
Destroys the cage
Bone crushing alien
God of salvation
Sad wings that heaven sent
Wipes out in rage
All Guns, All Guns Blazing
There’s no deeper meaning if you tried.
Yeah, not that I have anything against pure badassness. That’s why I like Slayer.
All Guns Blazing is awesome in its lack of a story. The lyrics make no sense, but I think that’s why it helps.
All of Painkiller has songs with a story, except maybe the Hall Patrol and Metal Meltdown, but they’re still good to me.
But not just repetitive noise, I love it when a song tells a story, or preaches a lesson, or calls out bullshit. Deep, harmonious songs like “And Justice For All…” and “Disposable Heros”, two of my favorites. I don’t particually care for thrash like, say, “Kill ’em All”.
And despite my judgment the Ripper stuff (The Jugulator and Demolition) are good for that as well.
Cool. I love shit like Iron Madien but I feel my forte is more Metallica-like stuff. Thrash.
The Sentinel is ’84. All Guns Blazing is ’90.
Oh, okay. So they’re 70’s era right?
Awww, shit I can’t go on Youtube. The Ipod touch I’m useing can’t download Youtube vids. I shall however, write those songs down to listen to next time I’m on a youtube capable computer. Those are song titles right?
