Wish she could be more like this on the tv series instead being either gloomy, dull or lecturing other show favourite characters. Actually developing her with Sunburst is porbably a better way to introduce her rather than with Trixie, Maud or Discord.
I think Starlight still has enough flaws and quirks to not be a Mary Sue (though even as a massive fan, the writing has occasionally rubbed me the wrong way). She was wonderfully awkward and social inept in “Rock Solid Friendship”, she almost got sent to the moon in “A Royal Problem”, and her interactions with Sunset Shimmer in Mirror Magic clearly show her to be far less moral and responsible.
Now if she would just stop making Diet Twilight ‘Friendship Speeches of Instant Bad Guy Redemption’. That got old REAL quick.
Course they do, they usually do out of the perception the audience does.

Remember Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail? The girl’s the beta, the guy’s the alpha. For me, its just as cute but yeah, its not as common.
This. What i realyl hated about Starlight since S6 is that he turned into bland mary sue like Sunset did after reformations. I always wanted her to have some kind of quirk like Trixie or Maud had. Making her sassy and bossy is also giving her some cutie vibes. Its a shame Whitley knows how to develop characters (Discord, Sombra, Luna, Starlight) but he messes up with story writing because i would be tempted to give him a shot at Starlight episode.
They even reversed the original Aplha Discord and Beta Fluttershy into Beta Discord and Alpha Fluttershy before even starting to tease them. I guess cartoons really hate confident alpha males now.
I have to admit, part of me does ship Trixie with Sunburst a little bit because I saw the potential of their dysfunctional chemistry. But after seeing Starlight like this. WOW! I want THIS Starlight on the show PLEASE!
Its also a cute call back to her pre-reformed personality being a bossy control freak. I hate to say it but Starlight on the show right now, she’s kind of bland. I want this sassy one.
It’s funny how Adventure Time mostly averts it.
Beta guys and alpha girls are such a trend right now. Just look at SU, SvtFoE, RUBY, and MANY other shows.
please bro/sis, we like to fantasize. The less realistic, the better. Like I said, IRL we’re decent people who probably don’t want to be categorized as either alpha or beta.
I mean, if someone plays GTA V and likes to gun down cops, drive over civilians or beat up hookers, doesn’t mean they even remotely condone any of those horrible actions.
Hence, you shouldn’t take these ‘beta sunburst’ meme even remotely seriously.
Are you one of those people that view “beta” as a negative term because I do not. If you view it as a derogatory term than that is not my fault. If you think my words are garbage, then that is also not my fault. Sunburst is one of my favorite characters. I’m curious where your aggression is coming from because I have no negative intentions about the character itself.
Tell that to the sort of people who like to describe others as “beta.”
If you mean introverts and extroverts just say introverts and extroverts instead of co-opting garbage into your vocabulary.
You’re taking it too seriously. IRL we’re all probably decent, non-aggressive people (when it comes to romantic relationships) and we’re in fact upset if someone’s abruptly straightforward or has the appetite of a starving wolf.
Beta is not negative. Its like you’re comparing introverts to extroverts. Neither is better than the other, they’re just different like apples and oranges. You have to blame society for giving the term “beta” a negative connotation.
Remember, no matter how good a leader is, their leadership skills are worthless if they don’t have good followers and vice versa.
EDIT: Additionally, I do understand that Sunburst can take charge if he needs to. He was the one that took charge when repairing the Crystal Heart. But still, he has a very cute and endearing “beta” personality.

An ignorant, simplistic, and mean-spirited classification. Personality is far more complex than a binary measure and your classification assumes that there is something wrong with Sunburst when he’s a decent person.
Its just a personality classification. Sunburst being beta works well with Starlight being alpha. They remind me of Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty.
