Yes, if they depicted “fans of celebrities”, I wouldn’t say a thing, but they didn’t. They literally complained about plot points, characters development, script rehash: which wouldn’t apply to memoir writers/vloggers. And my main complaint about it is subtlety anyway, plus questionable “lesson”.

And that’s the problem - fandom of fictional show about Mane 6 doesn’t and can’t exist in Equestria - because they’re real there. But if they’re real, half of the phrases and reactions of townsfolk just plain doesn’t make any sense. Overall, you have to be very careful when creating meta episode, you have to be subtle and make sure it makes sense in both that and our side of 4th wall - which I can honestly say: they failed.
 
If on valid critique about your character you answer “but she’s real! Look, you made her sad! How could you!”, in best case, you would end up in loony bin.

This scene right there made me wanna yell at everypony here to go take a hike in the most explicit and most vulgar way possible; I mean, it reminded me SO MUCH about what the fandom may devolved to if we don’t check ourselves every now and then
