There may not be quick sand in the movie or tv styles that are shown but there is a type of sand that is super soft. It is not wet or muddy it is almost like a powder. You can put your arm or leg into it and it feels like nothing since it is so easy to move. When you disturb it it lifts up in the air like dust.  
You could step into it and fall to the bottom almost instantly. It is scary stuff. Thankfully most pits are only about knee deep.  
If you were unfortunate enough to fall into a deep one you would likely choke to death instantly.  
I am not sure of the name of the sand but they are found somewhere in Africa.

Well actually there is, it just doesn’t behave like it usually does in fiction.

We need more of MLP + QS, BIG TIME.

Fun fact: There’s actually no such thing as quicksand. As proven by the Mythbusters.
