I have been doing the same. Much like gingerninja666, I was simply penning down the trends I’ve observed in my past interactions with you. The only one here who’s interpreting our comments as personal attacks is you.
CronoM

@Wing8492
Bur those are just my opinions on the matter, and we’ve all done this topic to death.

@cloudkicker108
Clouldkicker108, me and Jarkes have agreed to be civil and avoid personal attacks. Please try to do the same.

I don’t want things to go out of hand after we just defused the drama. There is no reason to add to this so please don’t.
CronoM

@Wing8492
Actually the main issue for her is brought up when Starlight voices “Not everyone is lucky enough to get their cutie mark at the same time”. Yes one could argue she was an irrational child, but that’s just a weak excuse if someone wants to defend a charachter with a illogical backstory. Something was preventing her from connecting with Sunburst in the very near future, and it was supposedly her lack of cutie mark. Her central issue is not getting a cutie mark at the same time as Sunburst.

….of course, NOW we know that even if she got a cutie mark at the same time, it wouldn’t of made any difference at all. She already had the ability to do a handful of high magic spells without her cutie mark, but she had latch key parents that werent around to send her to Celestia’s school until the next time they were home. Which she didnt.

Tempest Shadow was actively abandoned by her friends. Sunburst was carried off to that school without much say in the matter. No amount of conclusion jumping and mere theories would lead her to abandon all things for being separated from her friend before one of her parents visited. That kind of resentment takes years to fester, which Tempest Shadow had since she was actively abandoned, while Starlight could of just mailed to Sunburst and joined him as soon as possible. The original script writer didn’t even bother with the thought of her having parents or not having parents

So yeah, money was never the issue. We’ll never know the real issue since the narrative makes several conclusion jumps out of thin air.

@gingerninja666
I can also attest to this. In my experiences debating him over Starlight, he has often chose to word his arguments in a bellicose and antagonistic manner, as if in an attempt to disparage me and my opinion as much as possible.

@CronoM
And just like that, you’ve already proven gingerninja666’s observation about you. Not that you didn’t do that beforehand in your replies to Ryodraco.

@Ryodraco
Exactly. I don’t know why that’s so hard for some people to understand. After all, why would she want to attend the school that played a significant part in taking her friend away from her and ending the one period of happiness in her life?
Ryodraco

@CronoM
Did she want to join him after he got to go ahead of her though? She seemed more enraged and believed that because he got his mark first the mark was to blame for separating them. Then he didn’t contact her and she apparently made no attempt to reach out to him so she believed their friendship was over. Any desire to join him in the school was probably gone at that point, and Starlight’s love of magic was obsessively put into finding ways to separate herself from the rest of pony society and build her own.

As Twilight said her conclusions were ridiculous, but Starlight clearly was not all that rational even as a filly.
CronoM

@Jarkes
Well at least that’s cleared up.

We still have questions on why she hated cutie marks since
  1. She wanted to study magic with Sunburst in Canterlot where they could both study magic to their hearts content
  2. Getting a cutie mark at the same time as Sunburst was what Starlight admitted she wanted, yet it wouldn’t have made any difference at all, since she already had the magical ability but her parents weren’t around most the time
  3. Being sent to Celestia’s school would of made latch-key situation far simpler
  4. She could have easily shown her parents on the times they were there one of her high magic spells and been sent there.

    Why she was hung up on cutie marks since not having one was not even the real(albeit temporary) obstacle for joining Sunburst is still an unknown. All her motivation would of been directed to her mostly absent parents.

    They both loved magic and they both intended to go to Celestia’s school, so its obvious she wanted to join him, but its likely we’ll never get a real answer to that.

Kaze ni Nare
Also, another added layer to this. Starlight has been getting formal training from Twilight, the element of magic and master of uber good studying techniques, and Starlight had spent a period of time focusing solely on those magical studies in an effort to avoid needing to learn about friendship.

Latch-key kid are those kids with parents so busy they have to trust their young kids with their own set of house keys.

At least, that’s my understanding.

Course, that actually sounds less liberal than most other pony parents we’ve seen thus far.
CronoM

@Jarkes
Apology accepted. :)

Even if we don’t agree on the same things, let’s both promise to try to keep things as civil as possible. I can be blunt at times, but I wasn’t trying to be curt with @Ryodraco.

GOKAAAAI... SILVER!
Anyway, I just asked Josh Haber on Twitter about the whole parents thing. If anyone would know about that, it’d be the guy responsible for much of Starlight’s focus.

Now, he probably can’t directly say whether they’re abusive or neglectful or if Starlight’s an orphan or anything like that, since plans could potentially change and he can’t really give spoilers on future aspects of the show, but at least we might be able to find out whether they were in the scripts at all.

@CronoM
You were attacking Gingerninja far more than he was attacking you. Gingerninja was respectful and pointing out an obversvation he had, and you immediately jumped down his throat and saying it was a “personal attack”. He even said it wasn’t an attack on you.

I don’t know what Gingerninja has said anywhere else, but it seems like you’re being the petty one, at least here.
