“Hello there, darlin’!’ Scarlett Rose purred. “Care for another drink?”
 
“I-uh, well, I would-uh,” Granite Rock spluttered, her feather ruffling up. Scarlett was the most beautiful mare that she had ever seen.
 
“I’ll take one drink, please,” Misty stated, leaning forward and taking glass from Scarlett’s serving platter. She set the drink in front of her and shot Granite Rock a knowing glance.
 
Scarlett Rose gave Granite a sweet smile before turning and directing her attention to another table. “Let me know if ya need anything else, sugar!” she called over her shoulder.
 
Granite Rock stared after the mare with wide eyes. She missed her chance…again. Beside her, Misty chuckled softly, “It only takes one pretty lady to turn the tough, hardened military commander into mush! What will the other recruits say?”
 
Granite whipped her head around towards her old friend. “Don’t you dare say a word about this!” she growled. “Or I’ll have you running laps for hours on end!”
 
Misty laughed in respond. “Have no fear! Your secret is safe with me!”
