It might be from back when Hasbro still thinks MLP must only for little girls, 2013… darkest time for brony fandom, luckily I wasn’t there that time.
 
Now Hasbro has more badass looking action figures for MLP, where they welcome adult fans.  
This figure isn’t looking welcoming to adult fans.

That face looks a bit weird but it’s way better than the original dolls, it doesn’t have too much make up and it have a nice expression, and also i love the large scale idea…

These cancelled dolls look a bit odd, but seeing the comic packaged with it, I’m guessing they wanted to provide something to ease the awkwardness, like “Hey, you want a free comic? Well up yours! Get the doll!”
