Honey’s eyes averted to him, slightly confused. She spoke meekly, “I know I’m in love with cloud formations, but why must you laugh at me%?”
Paradox slowly opened his eyes to return her gaze, “Oh I’m not, I’m just thinking about how the apple doesn’t fall far from its’ tree..”
Honey’s confused gaze started to madden, taking offense to what he said, “I told you, I’m nothing like-”
Paradox slipped his hoof over her mouth to continue, “I mean as in my parents. Tempest was just Luna’s personal guard at first too, then they fell in love. It’s kind of like us, don’t you think%?”
As he slowly uncovered her mouth, she looked back up into the sky, ignoring his question. “I.. I do wish you could see how pretty it is up there, the wind flowing through your feathers… It’s truly an amazing feeling..”
Paradox looks away from Honey, slowly rolling onto his belly and standing up. “We’ve talked about this, and it’s really getting onto my nerves since you keep bringing it up despite my wishes..” He looks around before his horn lights up, the stubs where his lack of developed wings suddenly grew into a large, sparkly pair. He’s worked on his illusion spells since he could use his horn, his only ability really being able to cast illusionary spells. When his Illusion spell was fully complete, he unfolded his large pair of feathery giants. “Well, are you going to come home or not..?”
Honey quickly gets up after him, following him as they walk home. “Fine.. I’m sorry.. B-but you do know that soon you’re horn will give out and you’ll have to explain this to everyone, right?”
Paradox gave her a strict glance. “Don’t speak of such foolish hypotheticals. Speak like that in front of the Empresses and you may end up losing your job..”
She sighs, quieting herself, “Yes, my love..”

So this was a quick sketch dump I took too much time into making. I also thought it could give more dimension to my characters if they’ve had past interests.
As you can probably tell, these two don’t end up together, they value their work and reputation more than they valued their relationship, and Honey Sickle ended up getting moved to a different position anyways.
Also, I forget if I mentioned this, but Paradox’s magical niche is his tricks and illusionary spellcasting, which also helps since those feathery lumps on his back are deformed and undeveloped wings. He’s always been self conscious about them, and has been covering them up with magic ever since he was a young colt.
