Oh, I remember now.
 
The hatcher thing, from Corruption. There was a floating jellyfish abomination that spawned Metroids, and a rare enemy that I just described.

Reminds me of an enemy from one of the later Metroid games. It was this freaky walking mouth that spawned swarms of venomous flies, that would suicide-bomb you.
