It makes me wonder… what would the show be like if one/some/all the main characters were male? Spike offers an interesting dynamic, but his behaviour is so effeminate that he might as well be gender-neutral.
 
I mean, look at Discord. Arguably the first male character to have significant focus and the fans love him. Of course, he’s an interesting character with a great voice actor, but what if Discord was female with the same characterization/development? Would it change things? Would the fans like her just as much?
