I’d theorize that Strike Zone knows about his little sister’s feelings toward him, or at least suspects them. And, what he knows, or at least suspects, creeps him out. Evidently, he also knows that “pussy” is another word for cat. And, equipped with that knowledge, he copes with the situation by suggesting that Pink Pearl’s dreams are about cats, not about her wanting him to touch her, thus making a new cat some kind of substitution.
