Bio:  
Due to her prestigious heritage, Rarity has always been a high-class lady, however she never lets this get in the way of her friendships with ponies of ‘lower class’ (as her parents like to say). Her best friend is Cadence, the daughter of the mayor, but the two of them are rarely able to spend time together because of their busy schedules.  
Rarity is the most esteemed fashion designer around which is the main reason for her busy schedule. In the little free time that she has, if the young mare is not with Cadence, she is often seen with her friend Applejack, who is like a sister to her.

Bio:  
When Applejack lost her parents during a Changing attack when she was just over six year old, she also lost the majority of her knee from an explosion. The doctors were going to amputate her leg, but a mysterious pony whom everypony referred to as ‘The Doctor’ was able to build her a mechanical knee that he hooked up to her remaining nerves and muscles. The prosthetic was as good as a new knee, allowing the filly to return to her work with her remaining family.  
With her parents gone, Applejack holds the family together as best she can, acting like a mom, and keeping everything on track. She continues to lead her family in the way of her parents by being hard-working, honest, but still keeping fun in everything. Her greatest treasures are her siblings (including the adopted one) and her grandmother, as well as her extended family whom she sees every now and then.  
Although she rarely sees her friend Rainbow Dash anymore, the mare treasures her fillyhood best friend in her heart. She is contently worried about the spirited pegasus, and has tried on multiple occasions to lead her away from her life of piracy, however she has not yet persuaded her to come back home.
