Princess Cadence is the queen of the Crystal Empire, who is referred to as “princess” outside of her kingdom. As a filly, she was taken under Celestia’s wing to be a possible candidate for alicorn ascension.
 
Born a pegasus, Mi Amore Cadenza was given her name by her dying single mother, Lovebird. Bird was a small, white pegasus with rosey pink hair. She gave her precious Cadenza all the love she possibly could, especially since Cade’s father was never discovered (both are unsure who he is).
 
The two would spend hours together, but Lovebird always made sure that Cadence had a good amount of social interaction throughout their tiny village. Cadence, being the youngest pony in said village, was always a happy sight to see. It wasn’t long before she received her cutie mark, which she got at a very young age. The youngest pony in her village, definitely, and possibly one of the youngest ponies to ever receive his/her cutie mark in all of Equestria.
 
Unfortunately, when Cadence was about six years old, Lovebird passed away. Huge ceremonies were thrown for the passing of the village songwriter. Though Cadence was heartbroken, she wanted her mother to live on through her. Cadence became the next songwriter of the village at the age of 9.
 
One late evening, a curious Princess Celestia was passing through the lands of Equestria when she fell upon a small, lively, and beautiful town, which seemed to be fueled by one fiery source- a young Cadence.
 
Celestia had been looking for an heir to the throne for a long time, and as she settled in the camp and made it her home for a short while, she soon came to discover that Cadence was who she was looking for. Though the sun princess felt terrible taking this young pony from her village, Cadence was eager, and the village ponies convinced both of them that it was a wonderful idea.
 
For years, Celestia taught Cadence all about royal duties, magic, and raising the sun. She wanted Cadence to take her place once Celestia decided to retire, but soon came to discover that the pink pegasus was much better at another thing.
 
As years passed, ponies in Canterlot seemed to be much happier with Cadence wandering the streets. She seemed to spread love and joy everywhere with her beautiful, toothy grin and bright purple eyes. Citizens came to adore her, and shortly after, Celestia put her through an alicorn conversion spell.
 
As if Cadence wasn’t already great at spreading positivity, her new horn made the spread of love much easier with the simple casting of a spell. When the young princess grew old enough, she was trusted with reforming a forgotten empire.
 
Currently, Cadence rules the Crystal Empire alongside her daughters and son.

Side Notes
 
-As part of her royal training, Cadence was tasked with babysitting one of Celestia’s brightest students, Twilight Sparkle, who was also looked at as a possible candidate for alicorn conversion. This is how she met Shining Armor.
 
-Cadence and Chrysalis met long before Cadence’s wedding. The two actually had a secret relationship before Chrysalis became a queen (and before Cadence did, too). Cadence was forced to leave Chrysalis behind in order to marry Shining Armor, which is why Chrysalis even attacks him in the first place. Based off of this amazing comic
 
-Since Cadence was turned into an alicorn as a pegasus, her tail did not develop a lion-like appearance, but her hooves did become cloven.
 
-She is currently trying to regain a relationship with Chrysalis to unite the Changelings and ponies. This unfortunately means she may have to split with Shining Armor, but he’s more understanding than one might think.
 
-She has a thin but muscular build. Her picture is often put on the covers of magazines because she’s a perfect role model for young ponies, not because she’s skinny, but because she has muscle and has an overall strong appearance.
 
-Cadence and Luna are about the same height.
 
-Cadence regularly visits her home village. The hut that she and her mother lived in is always there, empty and waiting for her arrival. The village ponies keep it clean for her and eagerly await her visits.

Sorry about writing so much, but I really wanted to give her a detailed backstory  
I never get her eyes right, hopefully I can fix that in future drawings  
I didn’t play around with lighting too much for this piece, just some simple shading. I’m working more on proper anatomy and I think this piece is much better than my old one of Cadence, but there’s always room to improve, so any feedback is very appreciated!
