), to a very happy and loving family.
As a child, her and Sunburst’s unique coats attracted agents and movie producers from everywhere. With their parents agreeing a little too quickly, excited for their children’s fame, Sunset and Sunburst were off to star in movies. Sunset, being the more outgoing sibling, was much suited to fame. She had the cutest face as a kid, and other foals all over Equestria would often be seen painting their faces yellow to be just like her.
Sunset was an instant hit with critics- pretty much everyone loved her, and for a child, she was outstanding at acting. She often played the role of main character’s children alongside Sunburst, however, she soon started to receive more solo roles. Sunburst was extremely supporting- the acting life wasn’t for him, and he loved staying behind the scenes, watching his sister’s performances in comfort.
It wasn’t long before she got her cutie mark, which appeared very quickly on her small flank. It was a sun, and to her parents, that meant Sunset was fit to be a princess. They put her into Unicorn Training School, while still forcing her to perform in multiple movies and TV Shows. Sunset was still a hit and fans tirelessly loved her, but the exhaustion in her face, the bags under her eyes, and her terrible posture became noticeable very, very noticeable, and quickly.
It was either unicorn school, or acting, but Sunset’s parents thought she could pull off both. Maybe she could have, but no child should be pressed with so much work. Fortunately, the decision was made for her, when she received a letter in the mail saying she’d earned a scholarship to Celestia’s school.
Scholarships were a once in a lifetime thing, and Celestia didn’t give them out often. Perhaps twice a year, if even at all. Sunset thanked her acting career for allowing her to be recognized, but also thankfully kissed it goodbye. She was whisked away to Unicorn School, leaving Sunburst and her family behind.
Sunset had a close bond with her brother, she really did. They told each other all their secrets, and Sunburst was pretty much the only pony she felt comfortable letting her guard down with. She was so used to having this personality, of sorts, for the press and paparazzi, that spending time with Sunburst was very relaxing. She told him she’d write him every day from Celestia’s school, but Sunset had no idea what she was getting herself into. From elementary, the amount of schoolwork was Adolescent Level (late Middle to early High School level).
Sunset worked hard and diligently, never missing an assignment but still being infamous for her disorganization. She might have become so used to everyone doing everything for her in the acting industry that she’d forgotten how to care for herself.
The yellow mare worked so hard, especially knowing that Celestia was “secretly” looking for an heir should anything happen to her. Which is why she was so perplexed, so confused, so angry, that a purple unicorn nobody had gotten a pair of wings and not her What was so special about Twilight Sparkle?! She didn’t get a scholarship, had almost failed her test according to gossip, and Sunset, in comparison, was the perfect> straight A student. She hated Twilight, loathed her, and she plotted her revenge.

Trixie Lulamoon, better known as Trixie, is the daughter of two stallions, both of whom are magicians. Growing up, the young foal was so mesmerized by the magic that her fathers performed, and she wanted to be just like them.
Conceiving Trixie was extremely difficult. Back when her dads were trying to have children, the magic to allow two ponies of the same gender to conceive was still in the works, and there were no draconequus to help, either. Celestia was working extremely hard to find a spell to help these such ponies.
When the spell was finally made, Trixie’s parents couldn’t wait any longer. They immediately used it, with Jackpot becoming temporarily female to have her. Fortunately, everything went fine during the pregnancy, but when Trixie was born, it was instantly noticeable that her horn was defected. Unfortunately, the transformation spell was still very new and very much under process of development.
Trixie did not show any signs of intense unicorn magic at a young age like most newborn unicorns did, but was rather a very calm, easy to handle baby instead. Big Bucks and Jackpot worked tirelessly to try to get her horn to function. By the time she was much older, Trixie had finally learned to perform minor spells, but that was about all her horn could handle.
She eventually gave up, which was a mistake. Had she worked with her horn abilities more, she might have an average usage of it. She never gave up her dream of being a magician, though. If anything, the uselessness of her horn made her unable to cheat in magic, making her tricks that much more real. She’d have to work hard to convince an audience, and unfortunately, kids seemed to be attracted to her wizard coat and hat, and kids are the ones who question the credibility of magic the most.
Trixie didn’t book many shows, though her dads always had a slot open for her in Las Pegasus should she choose to perform there. She wanted to live a life of her own, making her own living and enjoying her life through her own accomplishments, but she could never forget how “defected” she was.
Trixie became very jealous of other unicorns who could use their horns without issue. She never once thought of blaming her fathers, but instead, everyone else. This is why she steals the amulet- she wants more power, and she wants to feel useful. She just wants her horn to work.
Eventually, with the guidance of Starlight Glimmer, Trixie starts to work on improving her magical abilities. Starlight happens to be the best teacher she knows, and she’s finally able to feel happy about her horn’s abilities. Though Starlight may not be a teacher in Twilight’s school, the pink unicorn is perfectly content with helping her best friend.
