I think all of these issues of people jumping to conclusions would be eased if Tumblr simply told people why they were banned, why their account was deleted, and generally didn’t do everything in the dark of its users even when directly affecting one of them.
 
The lack of communication is what makes people lose their shit in the end.

As i understand, it’s a few different matters that converged into a perfect storm of a cluster-*&%$
 
First the Tumblr App was removed from the Applestore because certain illegal materials slipped past the protections Tumblr has in place due to a database bork and it not being updated. They are moving to fix that
 
In addition, a bot being used to clean up porn bots has been catching non-bot blogs. Some have already been able to get theirs restored, but with it being a holiday week in the US, it’s not looking like it will be a quick process restoring everything.
 
And of course, we have users all over tumblr panicking, half cocked, scrambling for explanation and going off falks or incomplete information.
